Grand Fiesta Americana Los Cabos - Part 1

Updated: Oct 8, 2020

As a travel agent, we get to travel to places and experience them so we can give our clients first hand knowledge. They are called Familiarization trips or FAM trips for short. This trip in March 2016 to Cabo San Lucas was my first official FAM trip. I went on one last year to Punta Cana but I just tagged along since my agency owner had accommodations for two. I was her guest because I didn't have enough sales volume to be an official attendee. Even if I didn't get to participate in all the activities, it was still a great experience! For this trip to Cabo, I had to pay for my own airfare and a small fee to cover the taxes and such. Everything else was paid for by my supplier and the resort we stayed at. I was very excited to go on this trip since it was my first time in Mexico!

When I arrived, it was a little windy and chilly plus it even rained during our cocktail reception that evening. However, the rest of the time the weather cleared up and it was very nice!

I also did a quick video of the room I was staying in which was a "Deluxe Room" which was 425 sqft.

Plus, I took a few photos of my room as well. They were currently renovating all rooms and will keep the Mexico style but make it a little more modern. I have photos of those newer rooms later.

I almost forgot to mention the location of this resort! Cabo San Lucas is at the very end of the Baja Peninsula in Mexico and it is where most people think of when people mention "Cabo". It is also where the marina is, the mall, the lively bar and downtown scene and more. However, there is much more to "Cabo" than just that tiny part of the area. I toured resorts all up and down the coastline from San Jose del Cabo to Cabo San Lucas. The Grand Fiesta Americana is located about 1/3 of the way between the two cities. Just enough out of the hustle and bustle of Cabo San Lucas but close enough to get there easily if you so desire.

If you want to check it out, I have an interactive map that you can see all the resorts that I visited on this trip. More to come in the next post! Read part 2 and part 3.
